Papatoetoe West School - Drainage Upgrade
The drainage upgrade at Papatoetoe West School was undertaken to resolve persistent waterlogging issues across the school grounds, particularly around the hall, carpark, and playing fields. The site had long experienced poor runoff and pooling, especially in low-lying areas.
Maxion Civil delivered a comprehensive scope of works, including the installation of 2,000 metres of perforated stormwater pipe, 140 metres of 150mm SN16 UPVC pipe, and new compliant cesspits with dish channels to redirect surface water. Filter socks were added to support long-term maintenance, while existing catchpits were removed and replaced.
Additional works included underground service detection, CCTV flushing, and reinstatement of all disturbed areas with topsoil and grass. All trenching and installations were carried out in line with Auckland Council engineering standards, with a strong focus on site safety and minimising disruption to school operations.
Delivered under a Medium Works Contract, the project was completed efficiently and met all Ministry of Education requirements for quality, safety, and environmental management.
